Children in kindergarten—seventh grade are invited to Cross Explorations, Faith's grade school aged Sunday School program! This year, in Cross Explorations, we (along with the adults in their class) will be taking “A Walk Through the Old Testament” to see how the grace-filled plans of God are worked out in the lives of the believers of old, and how he is working out his grace and his plan in our lives.
Faith Sunday School will have a bit of a different look and feel this year. Each week, Cross Explorations will have a Vacation Bible School sort of feel, with ENGAGE, a large group opening session with hymns, theme introduction, baptismal remembrance, and offering collection followed by two stations EXPLORE and EXPRESS for students to rotate through during the morning. Register today by visiting www.faithlutheranfdl.org.
Throughout the year, we will be taking several Sunday breaks from the usual format described below and will have an interactive large group presentation, at which students will remain in the sanctuary for the entire time. After each presentation Sunday, snacks will be served in the cafeteria. The first presentation, led by former missionary to China, Nate King, will take place on Sunday, October 9th. Your children won't want to miss it!
The simple schedule for each week of Cross Explorations looks like this:
9:00– 9:05 Enter
Students will be signed in at the entrance to the sanctuary and from there proceed to their team area in the sanctuary. Students will pick up and wear nametags.
The leader will greet the assembly and introduce the opening hymn/song. After the opening hymn/song, the leader will introduce the thematic concept of the day and draw attention to each week's baptism anniversaries. The leader will then introduce the closing hymn during which time the mission offering will be collected. After the closing prayer/announcements teams will be dismissed to their assigned classrooms.
9:20-9:45 Explore / Express (Rotation 1)
Students will gather in their assigned classroom for Rotation 1. The leaders of the Express stations will take students beyond basic learning with a variety of activities that reinforce the lesson. With crafts, games, music, drama, and more, Express is a wonderful way for students to use their God-given gifts and talents to grow in their understanding of and appreciation for God and his Word. The leader of Explore will help students dig deeper into the week’s story using various media, methods, and means to teach, explore, and apply the story to student’s daily lives
9:50-10:15 Explore / Express (Rotation 2) see above Rotation 1
Students will be picked up and signed out by their parents in the same classroom each week.
This year, students will be divided into four "teams," with eighth graders serving as assistants for our preschool-aged program, Growing in Christ.
TEAM 1: Kindergarten & First Grade TEAM 2: Second & Third Grade TEAM 3: Fourth & Fifth Grade EAM 4: Sixth & Seventh Grade
The fun begins Sunday, September 11th, @ 9:05am
Faith Lutheran is excited to invite your children, ages 1-4, to join us for our brand new Sunday morning preschool-aged ministry, Growing in Christ. Filled with active-learning ideas, songs and craft time, our early childhood curriculum Growing in Christ encourages children to hear, see, and touch each Bible story—relating God’s truth to their own lives.
In the past, we have simply provided babysitting for our little ones during Adult Bible Class, but this year, your little ones are going to be learning along with you. In fact, each week, the story taught in Growing in Christ, will be the same story we will be going through in our Adult Bible Class. This year, all ages at Faith, will take “A Walk through the Old Testament,” to see how the grace-filled plans of God are worked out in the lives of the believers of old, and how he is working out his grace and his plan in our lives. These overlapping lessons and stories will provide you with opportunity to learn and grow alongside your children and be able to better converse with your children about the stories they have learned throughout the week. In fact, we are even going to provide you with simple study materials to do just that.
Our preschool director, Jamie Walta and other volunteers will be heading up this exciting new program, which we hope will be a blessing to you and your children. If you have any questions, please reach out to Pastor Parsons or Jamie Walta.
Growing in Christ begins Sunday, September 11th @ 9:05am.
